Alexander Technique Lessons:
How many, how much?

Are You Ready to Change?

If you really want a lasting change you should aim for ten weekly lessons to start with. Like learning a new instrument or language, it takes time to learn and apply the technique to your own life.

Ideally a longer course of about 30 lessons allows lasting change to effectively take place.

Progress is really down to the individual but bear in mind that you are addressing a lifetime of use that may now be causing health issues and pain. Alexander Technique is not a treatment; you are learning a whole way of being.

I offer one introductory lesson of 1 hour and then invite you to book blocks of lessons.

Payment for the block will be taken at the start (card, bank transfer or Paypal) and lessons will be scheduled for a regular weekly time slot. They can be changed with 48 hours' notice.

1. In-person lessons take place in The Practice Rooms, 31 Castle Street, Reading, Berks, usually on Thursdays, or London at LCATT, 137 Grosvenor Avenue, Highbury, London, usually on Fridays. There are stairs at both locations. If you are unable to manage stairs let me know and we can arrange alternatives.

2. Lessons start and end promptly at the time agreed. If you arrive early I may be with another pupil and unable to let you in sooner as there is no receptionist at either location.

3. Courses of lessons are arranged at the same time every week.

4. Lessons can be changed with 48 hours notice. If less than 48 hours notice is given, the teacher reserves the right to charge the full amount.

5. Alexander Technique is an educational procedure and no guarantees are given for improvement in a physical or mental condition. Progress depends on the pupil engaging with the work.

6. Medical conditions are discussed in the initial consultation and lesson. The pupil must discuss medical concerns with their doctor prior to starting lessons.

7. The pupil is encouraged to wear appropriate clothing, i.e. comfortable. They will be asked to remove shoes either at the door or when they get on the table, so they may want to bring good socks. The use of perfumes and colognes are requested to be kept at a minimum.

8. The teacher will use their hands on the pupil to gently guide movement and encourage improvement.

9. If the pupil has any symptoms or positive test results of Covid-19, or any other contagious illness, they are asked to stay home.

10. The teacher and the premises have all necessary insurance.

11. All information given by the pupil to the teacher including medical history and personal details are kept confidential, and only used in order to administrate lessons and discuss progress with the pupil.

12. Any testimonials or case studies that are used in marketing by the teacher are with the permission of the pupil.
